Ozeki Kaio went a strong 11-4 last basho and belongs in the title conversation. Ozeki Chiyotaikai went a strong 11-4 last basho and belongs in the title conversation. Ozeki Tochiazuma went 10-5 last basho and looks to build on it. Ozeki Musoyama withdrew at 9-5-1 last basho — lasting the full fifteen days comes first.

In the sanyaku ranks, Miyabiyama moves up to Komusubi after going 10-5 at Maegashira 3; Tosanoumi moves up to Komusubi after going 8-7 at Maegashira 2.
